    Q&A with Pyre & Ice

Meet the lady and gents who make up this fabulous rock band.

Tell us a little about how the band got started.
Teri Abbott singer/songwriter moved to Brisbane in 2011 from a small country town in pursue of her music career. After several attempts of finding the right musicians in July 2013 Pyre & Ice was formed, at the end of July 2012 Pyre & Ice did there first gig.

Who writes the songs, what are they about?
Teri Abbot writes most of the songs performed, the band is showcasing over 12 years work, the band is starting to write together and have recently debut new song ‘Like a Tiger’ (joint effort from the band, lyrics written by Teri) and receiving incredible feedback. Bart Lucas (lead guitarist) and Teri wrote the song I’d Tap That. Shane Connelly (drummer) is soon to work on his own song in the band and Stacey McGlinchey (bass) is a great poet will also in the future contributing to the music. The songs are about life experiences, sometimes just pure fiction and sometimes within Teri’s land (her mind) a little story she has created.

How do you promote your band and shows?
We promote our shows on Facebook band page, personal Facebook, Reverbnation, Band in Town, posters, at other shows, networking and with magazines. We also hand out Pyre & Ice lollipops at shows, free cd’s and by selling Tshirts.
What made you guys decide to take part in Emergenza?
We want to be apart of the Emergenza Festival to hopefully take our band further, we take our music seriously and want to be the best we can be, and the do the best we can.

What are some challenges you guys have faced as a band?
As a band, getting great gigs to ensure that we can promote our music properly, creating a following and generally pump out music out to anyone that wants to listen.

What are you plans for 2013?
Within the upcoming months we will be launching our single ‘Sugar Lips’, then launching our EP. We also have a biggest gig to date on May 4 at The Brisbane Riverstage where we will be performing with 17 other bands to raise funds for Children suffering from Child Abuse.
