Spook Hill leave us fearing nothing.

The band opens up about this emerging musical project during out chat.

When did you form your band? What inspired you to make music together?
Spook Hill got together in late 2009, formed organically through jam sessions at Ben, the bass players' house. We recorded our first songs right back then, and we knew we had some sort of chemistry, when we recorded 'Struck by Lightning', which is on our EP, 'Nine months in Paris'. We knew that Jez, Ben and Mike would form a great nucleus. Russ, the drummer joined when we met at cousins wedding. We all have some musical skeletons in our closets, with Jez previously playing guitar in King Rat, Russ running a Recording studio, Mike playing in other bands, and Ben playing around with electronic music and lots of wires.

What would you say is your band's forte and what do you guys still need to work on?
Out unpretentious attitude, and genuine enthusiasm for getting on stage has an infectious effect on the crowd and we aim to entertain.
We are focussing on developing our stage act, writing more great songs, and making a couple of videos.

What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs?
Our songs have eclectic influences; ranging from the post-punk cynicism of "Still Pig City" to the emotional laments of love and loss in songs like 'Struck by Lightning' , and 'Last Thing on Your Mind'. We span musical styles from hard rock, through blues, with a good dose of funk.

What promotional means have you found to be the most efficient for you guys?
We have found facebook and word-of-mouth to be the best promotional tools. Getting people happy and dancing is also useful.

What do you hope the future holds for Spook Hill?
We hope to one day tour America, and retrace the birth of the blues by following the Chitlin circuit from New Orleans and going as far as we can. In the meantime, we want to be planting smiles on the punters faces, and getting people dancing in front of us as much as possible.
