Cartoon Physics brings real life sounds to the stage.

Postulating that rock doesn’t get out much anymore, these guys are doing their part at giving it a moment in the spotlight.

Described as ‘"A warm, grungy, indie-pop bubble of comfort” they are by far one of the most mellow and ‘easy listening’ ensembles I’ve had the pleasure of hearing for this first round of Emeregnza’s eliminatory shows in Brisbane. With a genuine appeal based on the simple guitar riffs and light yet effective vocals, this band has the potential to entertain even the most discerning music fan.

A quick look at some of their song titles i.e. Wildlife Documentary, Robin to you Batman or Four Stroke Cycle Petrol Engine is a testament to the band’s creativity and whimsy, something not lost on their music either. As the upbeat melodic intros roll into each verse and the vocal joins the instruments the pieces taken on a their own life, particularly thanks to the singer’s clear voice which leaves you in doubt of the song’s meaning.

With a goal of spending as much time as possible in front of live audiences, Cartoon Physics have started 2013 well on that road, most recently having enrolled in the Emergenza International music festival which will see them playing their first show at the X&Y Bar on April 2nd.
