With the most simple beginning one can imagine, Turtle-Dog united three musicians who were all doing other things, involved in other projects, but dropped it all to part of something they each thought would be great. Having come together from the simple desire to make music, they got together and did just that. With very pronounced drum beats and a melodic vocal Turtle-Dog speaks to their audience through their music as much as they do through their vocals.
Producing a sound much more mature then their light-hearted intros on their various social media profiles would imply, they not only capture they audience’s attentions but also make them wonder. I myself found them very reminiscent of many bands from the early 90’s. A sound quite unique and rarely emulated, yet familiar enough that I wanted to hear more. Luckily, the band has a selection of tunes available for fans online … personally, I was taken by Seem to be Losing it. Simple, yet with vocal harmonies and riffs that I found captivating.
Turtle-Dog has the honour of opening up Emergenza’s first round of 2013 shows in Brisbane at the X & Y Bar on April 1st.
