Having come together just over a year ago, Corner Shop Kids certainly want to make music and play it live, but they also have their sights set on a bigger goal – raising money for their municipality’s less fortunate folks. So far, via live gigs as well as the sale of the first EP, they’ve managed to contribute handsomely to their cause. Their album is available on iTunes and fans can find a sample of their music on their online band profiles on reverbantion and Facebook. Of course, for those who prefer to experience the music live, there are no shortage of options – the boys have had a number of live gigs lined up in the last few weeks.
These three talented young musicians demand respect for their music and performance as much as they do for their determination to do some good in the community. In it’s simplicity, their wistful acoustic folksy pop is a pleasure to listen to. The vocalist has a crisp voice, which makes it very easy to understand each lyric thus appreciate the depth and earnestness of the songwriting. When joined in harmony by his back up, the multi-dimensional effect is captivation. Adding simple little sounds like a bell to the song Take Me Away and with unique acoustic effects, the band manages to set themselves apart from most up & coming, local artists. Thanks guys for the worthwhile music!
