SYDNEY'S BEST FUNK ROCK LATIN BAND SCORCHES THROUGH NATIONAL FINAL'S SET.

HOW THIS EIGHT PIECE BAND GOT THEIR GROOVE AND MADE EVERYBODY DANCE AT THE METRO FOR THE EMERGENZA NATIONAL FINAL.

GUYS, IT'S BEEN A FEW DAYS SINCE YOUR INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE ON THE STAGE AT THE WORLD FAMOUS METRO THEATRE IN SYDNEY, ARE YOUR MEMORIES STILL FRESH?

We always have a lot of fun playing together as a band, especially as all our music has elements of every musician in each song. The show we put on was the combined effort of 8 musicians who are looking to entertain our supporters first and foremost. We feel we achieved this and the show is still fresh in our minds as we haven't had time to thank all of our supporters individually so we are still hearing feedback from everyone. We're still on a high from the gig.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE SHARING THE STAGE AND BACKSTAGE WITH SO MANY GOOD UNSIGNED MUSICIANS FOM AROUND THE COUNTRY? HAVE YOU MADE SOME FRIENDS ?

It was exciting for us to be able to perform in a different type of concert. We are a band of 8 professional musicians who initially got together just to play original music and have fun. For many years all of our band members had been doing their own shows in various outfits so to come together and write for fun and without agenda was our main goal. Sharing the stage with musicians of different styles was great. The Battle of the Bands format was really interesting for us to experience as well. Blue Candy did make some new friends on the night. We are a bunch of friendly guys who like making noise so making new friends was always going to happen....ha ha!.

MANY SAID, YOUR BAND WAS REALLY BRILLIANT, DO YOU THINK THE LEVEL OF MUSICIANSHIP WAS HIGH AT THE NATIONAL FINAL IN GENERAL?

There were several bands that we really liked. There were elements in every band that we found interesting and some musicians really stood out to us. There are also individuals and entire bands that really stood out as having a very high level of musicianship. This is what good music is about. We felt that there were bands that really did have this high calibre of performance skills and put on a great show based on how well their music sounded. In this day in age, we are repeated bombarded with soloist and bands that "make it" from having the "right look" while totally disregarding musical skill. It was nice to see and hear that there were several musicians at the national final who are still dedicated to raising the bar from the generic sound we have heard so much. The level was very high.

APART FROM THE FUN AND GAMES, WHAT ELSE DID YOU GET FROM DOING THE EMERGENZA FESTIVAL? DO YOU THINK YOU DEVELOPED AS A BAND?

Experience. Fun. These are some of the most valuable things we took from participating in the festival. Participating in the events was a fun way for us to try things that we haven't really done before. It was this experience that we will be able to take with us in our future endeavours.

YOU DID WELL ON YOUR PROMOTION THROUGH THE SEASON BEFORE GOING TO THE NATIONAL FINAL, DO YOU THINK YOU'VE IMPROVED ON YOUR PROMOTIONAL SKILLS? DID WE, BY TEACHING YOU TO PROMOTE HARDER, HAVE A POSITIVE EFFECT ON YOU?

Selling tickets was something none of us had ever experienced before in the professional world of music. This was a new hurdle for us to jump and we had to come up with a new promotional strategy for this. It was a brilliant lesson. We took it as real challenge and it was fun. The most enjoyment we take from putting on a show is when our supporters leave with a smile on their face, a sweat on their brow from dancing and then being spammed with pictures, videos and comment on our social networking pages afterwards. We are proud of our music and have always maintained that we will continue to put in a lot of effort to create new exciting tracks for those who support us - and they know that when they come to watch us play live. What we did learn from this experience was more ways to reach a new audience. It was was a great learning experience.

..AND FINALLY, WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR NEW UP-COMING BANDS THAT ARE THINKING ABOUT DOING THE EMERGENZA FESTIVAL?

Have a lot of fun putting on a great show for your friends. Emergenza is a great opportunity for this. Remember that MUSIC is the main reason we do what we do. Remember why you're playing and you will always have a lot of fun. You can never know what other bands you will be participating against, so ensure your set has a really diverse range of songs that fully shows off who you are and what you can do. You do not want to be a one hit wonder so make all your songs offer something different to the listener. You will always put on a great show if you always remember that music is your strongest promotional tool. So when you're doing Emergenza festival just be serious about it and play your music to the fans.

And so as I get off skype with the guys one last word from them was:"awsome......all this was just incredible. An awsome experience thanks to the team at Emergenza".
Thank you guys, cause you were a lot of fun and we love having bands like you on stage. As I close Skype and I'm now on the other side of the world I can't help but think how incredibly nice these guys are. Proof that music really does bond people. We at Emergenza Festival have been preaching that for years.... we fly the flag for unsigned, independent bands.
