With a collection of recorded sounds and instruments accompanying them on stage, Red Oxygen is one of the more unique rock band setups I’ve encountered in a while. Their recorded pieces which are flawlessly incorporated into both recorded and live music effectively turn the band into a 16 piece act. With a distinctly electronic vibe to them, Red Oxygen puts forward a show and sound that will not soon be forgotten by any audience member who witness them live.
Having recently taken part in the semi final round of the Emergenza International Music Festival (and coming just shy of the finals) the band is now in the process of a minor line-up change and will be ready for action again soon. They played their last gig in the current set up on November 23td. Despite this minor bump in the road, the band is going strong, staying active on the band’s various social media profiles and posting photos & videos. Definitely an important way to keep the fans in the loop!
Red Oxygen puts forth a music style which one could easily classify as alternative progressive but upon listening to a few of their tracks, and watching some of their live performance video clips, it’s quickly understood that they are much more then that. The vocal is very strong and very prominent over the musical background, despite the number of instruments and sounds that are present. Kudos to the band for some excellent arrangements which allow for every element of the song to have it’s moment in the spotlight so to speak. Media-ocrity is an excellent example – when the vocal goes strong the instruments seem to take a backseat, but during the chorus and other points in the song, it’s the instrumentals that shine.
