‘A thousand years in the making’ as they say, Throw Catch is a rock band from Sydney made up of five, sometimes six talented musicians. In order to maximize the spread of their band name, they have band t-shirts, which are sure to keep their name forefront in the minds of the attendees of the Metro show they will be playing in December, as well as any other show they ever play. Throw Catch is currently wrapping up the recording of an EP, which can be purchased from bandcamp by all you adoring fans. T-shirts and a new album all before a major show is a fantastically strategic band marketing move on their part!
It seems that the excitement for the Australia’s final round of the Emergenza Music Festival is wide spread all across the city of Sydney. It appears that every local (and not so local!) forum for show and concerts for up & coming, emerging as well as established bands has a listing for the Metro show and is promoting it with great enthusiasm. Throw Catch themselves have of course done their share, bombarding their band’s Facebook page as well as that of their friends with kind, gentle reminds that the time to get your ticket is NOW! And while you’re at it – pick up a t-shirt and download the music too!
In addition to listening and purchasing their music, the band’s Bandcamp profile also displays the lyrics of each song. I’ve always found this to be a brilliant move and wondered why more bands – particularly up & coming/emerging bands – don’t do this. Not only can the fans admire their musical talent, instrumental greatness and vocal flair but they can also sing along and admire the fine songwriting. The band’s song are very uniform, both in how well they are written an executed as well as in their relation to each other. I particularly liked the intro and vocal entrance of The Chances I’ve been given. It appears to encompass and showcase what is the best about – a strong vocal and equally strong accompanying backbeats.
