Last October, Auribus released their first EP, this October, they took the Factory Theater by storm and placed 2nd out of eight bands which performed alongside them during the semi-final show of the Emergenza Music Festival. They are now gearing up for the final round – a one night showcase of 14 bands, all rocking their hearts out, to be THE band which will represent Australia at Emergenza’s International final in Germany in August 2013. They are known on the Sydney up & coming music scene to do well in events they take part in, and have a history of drawing out fans and putting on a show that leaves them wanting more.
I encountered considerable coverage for these guys, both before and after their semi final show. Aside from a feature article in the Daily Examiner which discusses their performance and music in detail, they also have a presence on every major local & emerging band forum I could find. Fantastic effort in promoting their band, whether they are seeking out the attention or the media is coming after them, this type of publicity will have them soaring into notoriety. As part of their promotional strategy for the final, this type of coverage as well as their social media activity will guarantee them a massive attendance, which in terms creates the energy needed in the room to create a winning performance.
With several songs available online, there is no shortage of way to get your Auribus fix. Playing a healthy mix of pop rock and funk, the elements of each genre are easily identifiable in every song. Melodic instrumental intros ease us into the songs and the vocals, both solos and harmonies compliment the sounds. While each of their songs in its own right fits into the bands style and portrays a different element of their art. Stale M8 seems to be the one piece which best embodies all the genres the band strives to represent. The alternating vocals between the male & female vocalists, with the touch of funk emanating from the bass makes this the strongest and most memorable piece.
