Having claimed first place a both Emergenza Festival shows they’ve played so far, Kills Collapse are without a doubt a serious contender and competitor to the other 13 bands which will be taking part in the international battle of the bands’ final round for Melbourne December at the HiFi. One of the band’s most unique feature is the fact that they swap instruments between musicians during their show, something that keeps the audience on their toes and allows for each piece to have a touch of something special.
The band is working hard at promoting their final show, as one would expect! Their musical and band profiles online are full of all the little tidbits one would need to get to know the band – songs uploaded, pictures featured and even video clips. The band photos I found especially helpful as they help convey the creativity of the performance. They even have the results and their positioning from the international battle of the bands posted to their band’s Facebook profile.
Unique, somewhat erratic vocals and a dramatic, at times theatrical performance in addition to a musical is without a doubt one of the reasons why Kills Collapse have been able to amass and maintain such a wide fan base. While the vocal ranges varies from piece to piece the one thing that seems to be consistent in the drum track. In the intro and throughout the song the drum beat is a very prominent feature. The intro in Surrogate Man has a well composed drum and guitar sound. In the words of a great man “Everything about this band is wrong. And it's @%#?# perfect".
