Black Mayday come to the rescue of metal music with a unique, polished sound and vocal.

An interesting band of musicians play some metal with a twist and an entertaining live performance.

Since 2010 Black Mayday have played over fifteen shows to various audiences. With that many live performances under their belt, it’s no wonder they had what it takes to win over the audience during their semi-final show of the Emergenza Festival and make their way right into the final round and an opportunity to play in Sydney. These five talented young men have been playing together for some time and with some recent line up changes and having reworked their sound, they are charged up to take Melbourne’s local music scene by storm.

In a very strategic move, Black Mayday is wrapping up the recording of their EP and will be giving a copy to everyone who purchases a ticket to see their final show at the HiFi in December. In combination with other promotional efforts, this is exactly the kind of thing that will get fans pumped about any show, something especially important for a show where the stakes are this high.  The band has played a number of battle of the bands events, but none with an international reach like the Emergenza Music Festival.

A song off of their upcoming EP is posted on the band’s Facebook page Light of the Shaman – a small sample of what these boys are all about. I have to say, when I read Metal as one of the genres they classified themselves under, I was expecting music that was a lot louder and a little more chaotic then what I got. I was pleasantly surprised. The intro to the song is an excellent instrumental piece, on the much softer side of metal. Once the singer steps in, what you get is borderline operatic vocals, something deep, with excellent impact. I would come see the shows just for the free EP!
