This band unites six unique, artists, not just in terms of music but in terms of creativity as a whole. Based on their description, we know we’re not dealing with your run of the mill rock band. They promise more, and they deliver it. They certainly delivered during their semi final show of the Emergenza Music Festival, and were rewarded with a spot during the final show in December. These young ladies and gentlemen put on a memorable performance.
One of the best ways to make your band name stick out in a crowd so to speak – something very important when playing a music festival or battle of the bands – is to do something different and unexpected. This goes without saying for Midriff Explosion. They have this concept down. Each of their musicians has an alter-ego (so to speak) within in the band and they stick to it, as it’s a fantastic gimmick as far as band promotion. They are currently corralling their fans in an equally determined way, to make sure they come out and support them in their quest to be Melbourne finalists & travel to play the national final in Sydney.
Midriff Explosion are more however then a group of colourful personalities in cute hats. They are very talented artists. The vocalist, even at her young age is able to make use of a wide vocal range. Backed by a tight instrumental ensemble of guitars, keys and drums the band is able to put forth songs that touch the audience both musically and lyrically. Their songwriting is good and their musical arrangements don’t leave much to be desired. The sample song that is available online, Pickle Face, not only affirms the band’s uniqueness but also exemplifies their musical excellence and distinct style. Melbourne final – be on guard!
