A vibrant energetic punk rock band from Melbourne’s suburbs, Your Local Hero bring to the stage not just great music but also a lively, engaging show. Their hard work in both music and performance have paid off for them as they rock their way into the final round of the Emergenza Music Festival at HiFi in December. This up & coming local band has recently gone through a line up change, but appear to have a pretty solid composition now and taking part in an international battle of the bands is a great way for them to introduce their new line-up.
In the spirit of their band name, these four young men have recently taken part in a charitable cause, putting on a performance to raise money for Mc Donald's Mc Happy day charity event. Aside form having a band website and incorporating all of the social media for your band, getting out into the community and doing something for others is a great way to get your name known, and better yet positively associated. These guys have done just that. Their online marketing is great, they have music you can listen to on their page, a listing of upcoming shows etc, but additionally, they are actively involved in their community and everyone is benefiting from it.
Like the artists who have shaped and influenced these local heroes, they have excellent instrumental intros, guitar solos with edgy riffs, and an excellent drum & bass section. They also have something none of these other bands have –a female vocalist. This is quite unique with an alterative rock/punk band, and bring a new dimension to the lyrics and songwriting. It also opens up the door to such male/female vocal harmonies as we hear in As The Night Goes On. Most definitely offering a danceable, energetic show, these guys may be young but they sure are good!
