A very active band on Melbourne’s music scene Sunday Chairs have a lot of balls in the air so to speak. Not only are they one of the 14 Melbourne finalists they’ve also got one of their pieces in the final round of a song contest. They’ve certainly been busy making all this happen for themselves and here they are – reaping the benefits. These four accomplished musicians came together to play their folk/rock music for the world and have set themselves apart from the rest thanks to some lyrical genius and amazing vocal abilities. Joined together by two acoustic guitars and a drum & bass, they offer a unique and fresh twist on their genre.
If there is anything you need to know about the band – they have ensured you can find it online. In a very crafty way, these boys have their band’s online presence down to a T. They have a VERY popular Facebook page – over 1,200 likes! – their own webpage and a few profiles on various local music forums and portals. It’s no surprise the band has done as well as they have, with so much dedication from its members to the music as well as to moving their band from an ‘up & coming’ band status to becoming a well established band with a fan base and success stores in various contests & international festivals.
Seeing their live performance video really helps understand the music as their energy on stage matches that of their pieces. ‘I Found Mean’ certainly delivers the foot tapping beat that is promised in the title and clear, well executed sound of the acoustic guitars really emphasizes the folk style of the band as well as excellent ability of the musicians. ‘The Key’, the song currently in the final round of a song contest is an excellent example of the band’s songwriting ability and the contrast in the vocals of the two lead singers. Not surprising that it made it as far as it did in this event. Playing in the Emergenza International Music Festival final round is just what these guys needs to reaffirm their status on the music scene.
