A lovely young lady fronts Brisbane finalists Soula, accompanied by two talented guitarists, and a tight rhythm section courtesy of the drummer & bassist.. It’s no surprise these five took 2nd place on during their semi-final show, they put on an energetic show and their music pretty much grabs you by the hand and drags you front & center for a little movement. They will have a chance to flaunt their style once more in front of an audience in December when they take part in the Brisbane’s final round of the Emergenza Festival.
They only came together last year, but already Soula is making waves in the local music scene. You can expect these waves to pick up speed as they head to the finals and step up the bands’ marketing & promotion to get as much of an audience out to the show as they can. They are clearly very good at gathering support for the band, their band’s Facebook page has nearly 500 likes – a huge success for a band with a rather short history.
Soula’s successs thus far is due no doubt to their hard promotional work, their efforts at getting their band known, but none of that can overshadow their talent and energy on stage. The short video on their band’s online profile is a great sampling of what they offer – edgy riffs, melodic guitar & vocal solos, meticulous harmonies and a well-synchronized rhythm section. Accentuating their funk/rock style is the saxophone, which makes an appearance in several songs and really brings the show and music together very well. A live show I’d love to catch!
