Reaching the final round in any band contest/music festival type setting is a big deal for any band. Regular Gonzales has reached that goal and are hoping to keep the momentum going by moving on from the Brisbane Final right to Australia’s national final of the Emergenza Music Festival which will take place in Sydney. Judging by their band’s Facebook page, they are super pumped for this possibility and are working hard at getting their audience equally worked up.
This last round is going to be very competitive, so they will need all the support they can get. They’re off to a good start having placed second in their semi-final show of the international battle of the bands just a few weeks ago. They are reaching out to each of their fans and working hard at making this last show a success. The band’s CD is available online, a quick and easy way to spread the music so to speak as well as a strong tool in promoting their band.
The Brisbane finalist each seem to be quite different in their musical style and Regular Gonzales is no exception. Describing their style as Rockabilly, punka/psychobilly their music is upbeat, fun and invites fans to dance away as they play. Lucy is a fun, danceable song which shows off the vocal skills as well as the musical styling of these four artists. Atom Bomb Pop is one that particularly caught my ear with its style that is reminiscent of the 1970’s punk scene. The fact that this one band can produce two such different songs is a testament to their versatility and a good omen for their future.
