To top off their enticing music style, Locked Soul also offers their audience a fantastic theatrical performance. Obvious right off the bat when you open up their band website, these guys have character, style and a touch of quirk to add to their musical offerings. With colourful costumes, face painting and other props these guys presentation is equally interesting visually as it is musically. It’s no wonder they’ve swept their way into the final round of the Emergenza Festival in Brisbane.
Performing a genre of music they describe as Psychic Rock, the band prides themselves on their lyrics and songwriting as much as they do on the music and theatrics. All this makes for a very powerful performance, where every aspect is well worked and perfected. Truth be told I expected a completely different music style upon first seeing the band’s photo. Their costumes tell the story of a harsher… louder genre. Yet I found their sound to be perfectly in tune with their rock description, as exemplified in the single Hey Hey You.
Locked Soul are now hard at work promoting their band’s final show which will take place at HiFi in December. The guys have incorporated a superb tool in their band’s marketing strategy – the first 30 people to purchase a ticket will get a free copy of their CD! Emerging and up & coming bands who are good at this type of live show promo usually have a high level of success, and I don’t doubt that Locked Soul will experience just that!
