Funky up & coming artist from Brisbane are Making Progress with their band.

Unique style, good songwriting and arrangements could be the ticket to success - or Sydney - for these guys.

A healthy mix of genres awaits the audience at Brisbane’s Emergenza final at HiFi in December as the various finalists take the stage and ‘mix it up’. Making Progress offers a healthy mix of funk, rock and a bit of folk. They call themselves the band for any occasion and their styles is easy and mellow enough that I can actually believe they could be. The have been playing music together since 2011 and have since then indeed made progress.

For a band who’s only been around for a bout a year they have done pretty well – finding themselves in the final round of a major international band showcase. They will be up against some strong competition at the final, however seeing as how they’ve already taken to the social networks to promote their show, coupled with the rare sound of their music I would say their chances look good.

The vocal leading the way in All I Miss is you, followed by the bass notes is a very captivating way to begin the song. Avoiding the typical instrumental intro allows the listener to appreciate the vocal and songwriting right off the bat. The singer’s voice is quite versatile and he misses no opportunity to showcase that fact in this piece. The arrangements are well thought out and worked out and the few distinct instrumental notes at the end of the song are as brilliant as the beginning. Very strong contenders.
