Cold Vengeance came out steaming from their show & emerged finalists!

Punk meets metal in this energetic performance from an up & coming band who dares to merge these styles and come out champs.

Every band who signs up for a battle of the bands wants to hear the world FINALIST. The lucky gents from Cold Vengeance got to hear just that after their show at HiFi on October 16th. Their powerful and engaging performance stole the crowd and earned them a slot in the much coveted final round of the Emergenza Music Festival. While they appear to be quite young, this up & coming band has had a presence in Brisbane’s music scene since 2007. Though they’ve experienced a line-up change or two since, they are still pursuing the same genre.

Since the band has been around a long time, these guys are not just well seasoned musicians but also veterans at getting their band name out to the fans via popular media like MySpace, Facebook etc. While this is now a tool that every band uses to promote themselves, it’s particularly important for an up & coming band because it allows for social promotion, for getting your band like by friends of friends of friends. At the end of the day, this type of networking for music, musicians and bands is what will set the strong apart from the weak.

While metals is clearly they style they’ve chosen to pursue with this band, it’s clear that they all stem from some punk roots and have incorporated sounds and riffs from that genre in their otherwise metal music. This is very well exemplified in the song Crazy Man Can. Especially during the chorus I felt like I was listening to an instrumental metal band with the vocalist from a punk-rock band. While this may sound confusing, it turned out not to be. In fact, these three young men make it work and it creates a style which is really different and appeals to a wide variety of fans.  This should make promoting the band super easy, which in turn will make for an awesome final show in December!
