While the term experimental implies a degree of trial & error or uncertainty, listening to Cuervo one would be hard pressed to find either of those applicable. These four boys seem to have things well under control – at least musically. They are truly artists, each in his own right and together they put forth a skillfully woven tapestry that is their song.
They may be considered and up & coming band because they are quite new, but their sound and talent foreshadows a long and healthy music career for these guys. I predict live music venues will love these guys. There is nothing about their sound that limits their appeal, thus they are a sure crowd pleaser. They will be taking the stage in just a few days at the Factory Theater in Sydney, as part of the Emergenza Festival semi final round.
There is something about the lead vocal that is reminiscent of the great vocalists in classic rocks bands of the 80s and 90s. This was very apparent in The Hive. When the vocal comes in after a very well executed intro it’s a very comforting sound. What keeps you listening however is the variation in sound and tempo. Outstanding mix!
