Once a year for 3 days, the music business power brokers in the shape of agents, managers, publishers, producers, promoters and overall power brokers, go to Hamburg for a mixture of panel discussions, amazing showcases and to talk about the state of the music business (while having a drink of course).

This was the case on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of September in northern German city of Hamburg.
Set in the Reeper Bahn, the world famous club strip where the beatles and many others started and where the live rock & roll music scene was practically born in Europe, it was a mad 70 odd hours where we got lost in the music.....and the business.

A 2 man strong delegation went to check out what we could do to help the Australian bands. While one team member from the Emergenza competition, your favourite festival for emerging artists, was busy attending panels and talking to the music biz experts, the other, was networking and meeting labels and promoters to plug the best bands to come out of our festival. During the 3 days, we were also happy to see some of our Emergenza musicians/artists showcasing there and some, who like in the case of Royal Republic from Malmoe, Sweden, were there to rock 2000 people since they are the most popular rock band in Germany and the nordic countries.

They were doing the Warner music showcase where FUN, the “new american big thing” was also showcasing but honestly, our Emergenza boys did much better. We've seen many good acts, spoke to many music business people and put up with them until 4am.....and this was all for you!! Yes, you bands out there. You, that sign to our band competition and bring your talent. You, the bands that want a kick start.

The bands who know have the goods and want to start with us. The bands who work hard and get somewhere. Somewhere like the Reeperbahn Festival. So for the moment it's bye (for now) from the best 2 reporters in the music world......wait till you see the videoblog!
