4 days of Sydney Rock & Roll mayhem

Sydney, The Metro and the best unsigned bands in the land battle it out for the top spot. An account of the first gigs. Here we are... once again a super positive report for the first four dates of the Emergenza festival down under.......it''s the only live music Festival for unsigned bands!! (and the most fun we must add)...The season 2012/2013 has just kicked off and already we've seen some great bands. Great music was heard with twenty five bands in four days and a true rock''n''roll atmosphere was there to support it... That''s the spirit Sydeny-siders! Ok, lets start from the beginning... We started Wednesday 11th with a lovely mixture of metal/ rock/ alternative tunes and reggae, it was a cool night for the crowd to chill out with friends and enjoy the youngest talents Emergenza had to offer on the Metro's stage and showing their big rock star potential. If a band is called Kaato, like the character in the Pink Panther films it's bound to be good.....and good they were. A night of guitars and sweat. Then Thursday night came with a more interesting mix of pop- rock/rock/electronic “new” sounds (see full thursday review separately). It was definitely the night of cool melodies and top tunes! The evening finished pretty early. Earlier than we expected, so we all caught more drinks at the metro and chatted about the bands and their sounds. After that, went straight to bed for some proper sleep...not very rock and roll but sensible when you know you have another two big nights ahead of you.... Saturday evening (yes we missed friday beacuse we don't do it)..... absolutely a cracking night. Seven bands and shitloads of people.....Dirty metal, a bit of grunge and some indie thrown in there for some good measure (sounds like a lethal cocktail. If the music styles tonight could be ingredients to make an alcoholic drink we would get high rather than drunk.....I'm only saying that because we actually were.....thanks to the bands who made it all so much fun.....loud guitars great drummers made this a special night. Skip Sunday (we all need some rest) and come Monday we had a great line up: Punk, rock, hip hop and some skillfully played progressive rock.....all this to top up the 4 crazy nights of live music at the Metro. Bands in Australia really prove that they want to go to germany and play the big stage.....they gave it all and were very confident, every single one. I have no doubt that bands here are a cut abouve the rest.....as aGerman man who has traveled the world watching bands for the past 10 years I can safely say that this, has been the highlight of this year.......and I've seen about 500 bands already!! Great 4 days of music it was (as I''m writing this I''m still tipsy from 4 days of indulging so thank you Australia) we are all a bit proven in the end but especially happy to have heard such amazing bands on our July gigs.......MORE VOLUME PLEASE!!!!!! Let''s crank those MARSHALLS and let''s rock! Till October.......Rock on!
