    HISTORICAL EVENT IN SYDNEY:

    OUR VERY FIRST EMERGENZA GIGS!

A storm was about to come down to OZ when our Emergenza man landed in Sydney and Melbourne for the first elimination rounds. An historical event that did not go unnoticed. Let’s start with Sydney. The very first band to start on the Thursday was Judgement Party good mix of electronica, great hooks and a truly passionate female front woman. I knew I was in for a treat. Up next were Underlapper and Lonewolf both great bands. Both indicated that Sydney has the talent to match anywhere in the world. The night continued with Aktor: more energy than any rock band I’ve seen; Rayn.Co, great singer songwriter and Next Go Pretty with a great singer front man… and so Thursday was done. Friday night starter with a bang Spokesmen For The N.W.O. went off like a rocket with a good blend of rock and politics. As Silence Breaks, Ka’ge and Smile did do themselves proud by doing well received sets. Manyana, The Volts and Usutu were incredible. Friday was closed by a quirky funny band by the name of Giraffes Casino. Saturday opened up with Odissey, Johnnie Gretch and The Danny John Trio. Three amazing rock bands. A mixture of good tunes, rockabilly and lead breaks to turn every head in the venue. Up next, one of the most exciting bands I’ve seen in months: The Vandolls. Punk-rock with attitude and great songs. Utility, Upside Down Miss Jane, Blackwater and Luna Assassins closet the Saturday by giving us rock and roll, comedy and entertainment value. Sunday: the night started well with Ashley Morse, Mamacita and Tales Of Mine… we were in for a good night. Sitting Pretty, John Dory, Ruin Gloria and Paradigm finished the week end in Sydney and sent me home fulfilled and very proud of the Sydney music scene and what it has to offer. A great way to start a new country… wait for the Melbourne review!
