It’s open in Australia! No, not the Australian Open, the world famous tennis tournament, we are talking about the Emergenza music festival, the biggest competition for unsigned bands in the world! The sun, the surf, the beaches and the best music scene in the southern hemisphere is ready to rock all the way to Europe. AC/DC, The Saints, The Church, The Vines, Jet, Wolfmother… yes! This is the land that provided the world with these fine, fine rock masters. The Emergenza festival is about to start after the new Australian team, helped by the biggest local music supporters in the land: Billy Hyde Music. Loads of prizes such as amps, drum kits and guitars will be given out as well as a recording in Sweden. The team has secured such venues as Metro in Sydney and the Prince of Wales in Melbourne. Around 600 bands in 3 cities (Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide) will play their hearts out for a spot at the world famous Taubertal Open-air festival in Rothenburg, Germany, where they will share the stage over 3 days with big signed international acts (and drink lots of free booze). This amazing feat was possible thanks to the dedicated team in the Billy Hyde chain of shops around Australia and their very passionate staff. We are now taking applications and selecting bands for the first round of gigs. If you are an original band with at least 2 members (White Stripes style), you can take part in what the magazines around the world are calling: “the biggest opportunity for unsigned bands, they benefit from the exposure, fun and contacts”. So there you have it, Australia is about to get rocked by what our team of missionaries that went there called “an amazing music scene, full of good buzz”. Strap on your guitars, practice those chops, ring and e mail all the boys and girls in the block, it’s open season…. Emergenza has just opened in Australia. Let’s rock!
