quite simply, ide is a melodic reason for getting out of bed in the morning. ambient yet driving guitars, heart-felt vocals, a dynamic rhythm section; they've managed to take what's best about the artistic rock that has come before them and yet create an absolutely distinct sound.
The band is comprised of detroit brothers layne and landon ihde on guitars and vocals, drummer Mark Niemiec and Bassist Luis Espaillat.
landon's guitar parts frequently approach the stratosphere, giving layne's vocals space to float in and out of falsetto creating much more color than typical rock fare. luis and mark somehow just know when to stop and start or drive through a section making the arrangements ebb and flow with energy. and the lyrical content really gives you something to chew on; from philosophy to politics, love to pain, if you want candy, look elsewhere.
having tightened up a solid set and currently expanding their exposure to include the west coast, make every effort to see them live. . .
