Connecticut’s Mile Marker Zero is a band that sticks out in today’s music industry. The five long time friends are creating music that is exciting, powerful, and most of all unique. To see them live is to be treated to one of the best live shows by an unsigned band. Each instrument is completely interconnected in a way that explodes out of the PA with such a force that your jaw drops. To listen to their recordings, brings you back to the days when you put on your headphones and slipped into a world of unconsciousness. The raw energy, well crafted songwriting and sonic power are captured in each second of the music, and present a sound unlike any band in mainstream hard rock.
Though Mile Marker Zero has been a mainstay in the Connecticut scene for years now, the band came full circle by increasing to a five piece ensemble in 2005. Band members Dave Alley (Vocals), John Tuohy (Guitars), Mark Focarile (Keyboards), Tim Rykoski (Bass), and Doug Alley (Drums) honed their craft while students at Western Connecticut State University. Hundreds of gigs, and hours of work has given MMZ the experience needed to survive in today’s industry. In August 2006, “The Haunted” an EP of the group’s best music to date was released to a restless fan base. They were eager to hear staples of the band’s live performance on CD for the first time, and see if a recording could possibly harness their live sonic power. With great response, their fan base is continuously growing through exposure from websites like Myspace, Garageband, and PureVolume.
Mile Marker Zero is a band with endless potential, possibilities, and production. They are band that will be around for decades continuing to make music that challenges genres and amazes audiences. To stay alive in rock and roll, a band must progress in their songwriting, their recordings, and their live performances. Mile Marker Zero has just begun to scratch the surface of a monumental career that sees no ends.
