Phoenix Red consists of four musicians, with home base Breda (NL). As from February 2006 the complete formation of the band is a fact: Rob (songwriter/lead vocals/guitar/blues-harp, played in several cover bands), guitarist Davey (former guitarist of Communication Breakdown), on drums Rick (ex F.R.E.U.D.) and bass player Rutger (former bassist/saxophonist of Redrum). Although the four differ in their musical background, there’s one important drive they have in common: the urge to make direct and powerful “straight ahead” rock, balancing on the edge between mainstream and alternative. Phoenix Red exclusively plays their own work, all written by Rob. Together with the rest of the band the songs are completed after a creative process in which every band member contributes his own ideas. Influenced by bands as The Doors, Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam and Incubus. All of this makes Phoenix Red a solid band which finds its expression in their energetic live performances. According to critics “pureness”, “straight forward”, “melodious”, “simplicity” and “self-willed” are terms that describes the music of Phoenix Red. Surrounded by a creative and raw sound.
