    TOP STORIES
THE AXEHEAD JOURNAL is a London-based 'Power Trio' with Toots on bass, Stevie K on drums and Guigz behind the mic and the guitar. Reflecting on a brave new world of pre-packaged opinions, products, and cheap fame, THE AXEHEAD JOURNAL with his palette of groove-heavy sounds, tongue & cheek lyrics and innovative format pushes the traditional boundaries of the rock genre. "The band's inspiration is this whole 21st century Tabloid culture we live in for the better or for the worst. Hence the approach for the lyrics is a kind of blog on acid...! 'Satire with attitude, punch and groove' is just the sort of stuff we like doing, says Guigz".

With the first ideas and demos quickly assembled at the back of 2006, THE AXEHEAD JOURNAL concept started to take real shape with the solo LP 'Tabloid Rock', an art groove rock concept album. Written 'on the move' whilst traveling many countries, the album features a cast of artists from many horizons and styles, hence making the 12 track LP a rich, cosmopolitan listening experience.

Released in 2008 Tabloid Rock received interest and subsequent airplay from underground media in France, UK and Canada, thanks to the flammable single & video 'The End of Oil', and 'L'Opportuniste', a cover of the cult classic french song from the 60s."Tabloid Rock was a first stake in the ground, a melting pot of alternative music with a few twists" reflects Guigz. It was very conceptual and a wonderful way to get things out of my system at a time when a lot of things in the media and around me really pissed me off".

"The New record will be very different. Everyone is really focused and it is going to a whole new level. The sound will be way thicker and the grooves just meaner ! The vibe at the gigs has been great so far with the new songs We have played in some London best underground venues, Like O2 Academy, Water Rats and Brixton Jamm supporting Shane Mc Gowan of the Pogues. We will take part in Emergenza festival january 8th...

We are putting the final touches to our new E.P. entitled PERFECT HELL out...More news from the studio coming soon. Please check gig listing for new dates.
