It’s Saturday morning, the beautiful valley of Taubertal is still at sleep. Only a few are already up to prepare the Workshop at the 2nd Nature Stage what is actually situated in a tent. Today DJ Ashba wants to introduce himself to the crowd as a fantastic and skilful Guitar Player and he also wants to give them a Workshop to show them how a guitar also can be played in a more effective way. At noon it’s already pretty hot, the first are crawling out of their tents to start their 2nd day at the festival. The tent was a little bit cooler than the outside so the visitors of the workshop really appreciated that fact. Around 120 people came to see DJ Ashba on stage performing his style. At first he gave them a couple of acoustic songs and they were actually really nice ones. The attentive audience gave him big applause. Between the songs he was asked a lot of questions by them, for example what kind of guitars he plays. He told them about his good and supporting endorsement partner Ernie Ball and that he plays Ovation- and Music Man Guitars. He was explaining how a song develops and that he was on tour with Kiss at the Ozzfest. The Atmosphere was quite relaxed and both him and the audience enjoyed the 60 minutes of being together talking about music. Even for non-musicians it was very interesting to see what kind of tunes, riffs and sounds you can get out of a common acoustic guitar or an electric guitar. After the Clinic DJ Ashba invited all to have a beer together against the incredible heat and then he went back to the Emergenza Stage where he was a part of the Jury. The next time when you see a poster containing the message that DJ Ashba will have a Workshop get sure that you won’t miss it! On Sunday the Workshop with Dave La Rue hasn’t been less interesting than the one with DJ Ashba on Saturday. The temperatures increased in comparison to the other 2 days, but that didn’t hold back about 140 people to come to the tent and have a lesson in bass playing by Dave La Rue, one of the best bass players on the planet. He already toured with people like John Petrucci and Steve Rai. He started with some impressions in how a bass can be used, too. Very fast and high technical-like his fingers were rushing over the strings to produce really amazing sounds and effects. To say that the audience was impressed would be an understatement. He told the crowd about his new Bongo Music Man Bass, which was actually designed by BMW and as he spokes about it you felt how amazed he is about the new gear and gadgets this bass has. He gave useful advices to the bass players who were sitting in front of the stage and showed them some tricks and effects. But not only questions about bass playing were asked as he told the people about his secret passion playing tennis.. After joking around a little bit, answering questions from the highly interested audience and forcing out some real strange but very impressing sound out of his bass, he finished the second workshop of the Taubertal Open Air with loud applause from the visitors. He went along to speak 1 to 1 with some musicians, gave out some signed autographs and then went straight back to the Emergenza Stage, where he also was a member of the technical Jury. After all we want to thank ERNIE BALL MUSIC MAN, DJ Ashba and Dave La Rue for giving us such a good time, present impressing Clinics and to speak for the people who attended them, it was really amazing having such high talented and well-known musicians at our International Final this last weekend.
