Last week, the semifinals for the Amsterdam area were taking Place in P60 in Amstelveen (don’t tell them P60 is in Amsterdam or you can get stabbed in a second!). P60 is a very nice venue (see top European venues) with the kindest crew I know. The party is on for 4 rocking days! Even if Wednesday was some kind of quiet evening, the atmosphere was there and everybody enjoyed playing at P60. Revision got a ticket for the next step thanks to an efficient rock and nice looking show. Reload has set the place on fire with a great show and a involved audience showing their Reload stamped flags to their idols… On Thursday the crowd was completely astonished by The Name, (strange name for a band name isn’t it?) a precise set with a very good looking girl singing who drove each man of the place crazy. Was it Britney Spears or was I dreaming? Ninevolt also reached the finals with a very good rock with nice melodies and a completely crazy audience. Friday, Grosh achieved it. For the second time in two years they reach the Amsterdam finals… And that’s with a great pleasure we will meet the nice Grosh crew and all its supporting girls for the Finals. Good job! In fact the Finals venue, Melkweg, is such an unreachable place for all the upcoming bands that Emergenza offers them a real opportunity to play there with a great exposure to medias and promoters. Surf Malandros will also join the party on 5th May. An explosive show with punk and ska influencies made the crowd sing and dance… 25 minutes is really too short…. Saturday was an excellent party too. Übermadsen got qualified thanks to a heavy-rock loud and deep rocking out the P60. The last qualified band of the week is Young & Desperate, maybe one of the youngest band of the Festival in Benelux this year. The drummer is only 13 year old. But young does not mean untalented. They got 148 votes the top score of the week and I promise you that 148 people couldn’t fit in the supporter bus they bring from Rotterdam. The audience was completely devoted to the band and to Bianna, the singer, charming and acting on stage. Still 4 places left for the Finals in Melkweg, we’ll see who deserve a place there this week… But for sure the competition will be tough once again.
