    TOP STORIES / Топ новости
A lazy, strummed guitar intro. A bass line slides into place. The drums add a gentle groove. Just another sunny pop song? Then you hear the lyrics: "Now when she cries/I want to put out her eyes." The Kindly Ones just hit you.
Formed in March of 2002, the Kindly Ones have rocked Toronto audiences with their brand of intelligent, vicious songs. Dominic von Riedemann formed the band after moving to Toronto from Vancouver. Raised on the intelligent hardcore of Hüsker Dü and the twisted pop of XTC, his infectious guitar riffs and shocking, poetic lyrics form the nucleus of the band. Bassist Sarah Ternoway soon joined, adding her sweet background vocals and deep pocket as the sensual yin to Dominic's furious yang. Drummer Jamie Tanner, a five-year veteran of Toronto's hardcore scene, drills the Kindly Ones' sound home with his intense, improvisational style.
The Kindly Ones seduce you with sweet melody even as they cut you with scathing, heartfelt lyrics. These songs demand to be heard. The Kindly Ones will be heard. Ignore them at your peril.
