À LA UNE
Haang Upps plays hardcore with a metal edge. They have been together since 1996 and they are from Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu.
They are revolutionizing the hardcore scene with their unique sound and few bands are challenging as they are. Refused was the last band doing it with their record “The Shape Of Punk To Come”.
Haang Upps is not a political band. The lyrics are introspective and about personal experiences. Each member of the band has his own belief that completes each other. This amalgam allows the band a different view on many subjects.
Haang Upps has been created by Louis, Dom, Sebass, Yann and Daniel in 1996. In the middle of 1996, Daniel was kicked out of the band and Vinz took his place. By the end of the 1996, Haang Upps recorded their first demo tape entitled "Greateshit".
In 1997, after several shows in the Montréal area, Yann left the band due to its lack of time.
In 1998, the remaining members recorded the album entitled "Stronger Than Fire". It was well received by the fans.
In 1999, the band managed to discover its real hardcore identity. After this discovery, the band recorded a demo tape entitled "Live 99". The demo was only intended for the band to work on their songs but keen requests from the fans have made it publicly available. The CDEP “A new step to comprehension” has been recorded after the “Live 99” demo.
At the end of 1999, Ben joined the group. Haang Upps acquired a heavier sound by the presence of the second guitar. For the next year the band devoted their time to compose new songs and did less show.
In the summer of 2001, Haang Upps started to play their new songs. The band felt a gigantic enthusiasm from the public and the organizers. This allowed the band to take part in large events like the Spectrum show with Subb.
At the beginning of 2002, Haang Upps recorded their latest records “Epistemic”. For the rest of the year they played as many shows as possible.
