coiled was formed in november of 2000, and from the beginning, they’ve fit together perfectly. beginning with their first public performance on 1/19/01, they have performed in various places in the tri-state area, including the theater of the living arts and abilene in philadelphia, the grape street pub in manayunk, pa, and several times at club drink in staten island, ny. they also placed 2nd in y100’s 6th annual battle of the bands at penn’s landing in 2004, and were nominated for "best original band" for the 2004 'philly music awards'. coiled’s studio-recorded ep “window of opportunity” was released on september 26, 2001, and a subsequent 3-song demo was recorded to portray their updated sound in 2002. a full-length release is slated for sometime this year, with several tracks already recorded.

coiled’s music can be best described as original hard rock, and the band’s varied influences lead to a unique sound with a tendency toward the unexpected. with such influences as tool, incubus, a perfect circle, stone temple pilots, and radiohead to name a few, their songs are very diverse, with no song sounding like the next. they strive to continually evolve their sound, always incorporating new song-writing techniques and stylistic subtleties to constantly push their music forward.
