    À LA UNE
The Pinstripes are a six-piece ska band haling from Cincinnati, Ohio. The band was formed in October of 2003 when the punk rock band Forest Fire, consisting of Matt Kursmark on guitar, Chris Grannen on bass, and Jared Goldfarb on drums, decided to add horns and switch into the genre of ska. They called on Mike Sarason to play saxophone and Ben Pitz to play trumpet, and rounded out the group with the addition of Candace Washburn on vocals. The Pinstripes just recently finished their debut EP simply entitled “The Pinstripes”, recorded at Group Effort Studios with producer Bill Gwynne. The Pinstripes have also played many shows around the Cincinnati area, wining various local challenges and playing with a number of nationally touring bands. The Pinstripes sound is an experimental mix of rock, ska, reggae, punk, funk, and even hip-hop. They derived their sound from such influential bands as the Toasters, Reel Big Fish, Bob Marley & the Wailers, Streetlight Manifesto, and the Slackers. The result is a new twist to an old, familiar, and catchy style. They are currently working on new original songs as well as playing shows all around Cincinnati and their hope is to do a tour of the Midwest in late 2004 or early 2005. The Pinstripes released their self-titled ep in August of 2004. It is the first release from the band. It was recorded at Group Effort Sound Studios, located in Northern Kentucky, over 4 days in mid-June, 2004. It contains 7 original songs that any ska fan will enjoy.
