À LA UNE
They are currently in the process of recording their first full-length EP, scheduled for release in the winter of 2004. Upon its completion and promotion, the album will serve as a catalyst for the band to increase its visibility in and around Chicago, and then the country. The RedLine looks to play live any chance they get in order to accomplish this task.
The lead guitarist Kevin pollutes the airwaves with licks worthy of virtuosity yet admirable for their straightforwardness while Conor, rhythm guitar, plays his Tele likes it’s meant to be played: smooth and sexy with a streak of uncontrollability. On bass, Andy matches his uncomplicated yet catchy bass lines with pop-friendly vocals as Paul, joining in spring 2004, has sparked the original three members with a new fire of hard rock sensibility on the drums. In a short time the band has managed to play a number of local venues (including the Abbey Pub, Beat Kitchen, Gunther Murphy’s, Wise Fool’s Pub, the Elbo Room, Lilly's, and Phyllis’ Musical Inn to name a few), be featured on local radio and television (88.3 FM WZRD and WYCC/CAN-TV Chicago), sell over 400 copies of its first demo, and travel the Midwest to play on college campuses like Marquette, Loyola, and St. Norbert’s.
Like the city in which it was formed, the RedLine is gritty and determined yet laid-back and cool. Their live show, undeniably powerful in its nature and unexplainably aesthetic in its presentation, is already famous and commands attention. Still, rocking out from Wrigley Field to Comiskey Park and Lake Michigan across to the cornfields of DeKalb, they are ready for more.
