À LA UNE
It all started when English Singer/Guitarist Greg Hell packed up his guitar, sent his old life up in flames and bought a one-way ticket to Sweden. He had been a rock and roll ‘lifer’ ever since he picked up a guitar in the late 80s. Playing for 6 years in the infamous UK punk band MR.ZIPPY (Golf Records) touring the UK, Europe and Japan, recording 3 albums and appearing on countless compilations worldwide. But he grew weary of the dilution in the UK scene. He longed once more for low slung guitars and dirty rock, debauchery, decadence, REAL music with feeling and... of course his path took him to the one that made this all possible - Stockholm.
The LUCIEN seed had been planted in his brain for many years and before long he had thrown out a search for fellow gunslingers and first hooked up with Hollywood Musicians Institute graduate guitarist Viktor Hemgren who had just been playing with the Örebro band SAWED-OFF but had also done stints in other brutal black and death metal notables SORG, MÅNEGARM and also currently plays guitar with MAZE OF TORMENT The two gelled over a love of the brutal, the dark and the rocking.
Vic knew drummer Stephan 'S.S' who had been playing for several Metal and Hardcore bands before, they were impressed with his ruthless drumming style and he was the obvious choice to form the solid backbone of what was to become.
The missing piece of the puzzle came when they head-hunted the outstanding bassist Ekwe Nordin. His charismatic aura and brutal bass playing made him a must-have for the band. Ekwe still to this day has an open offer from the band Infinite Mass to join them on stage at any time. They will have to wait.
After their first rehearsal it was obvious this was something extraordinary you could almost feel the electricity in the air and hence LUCIEN was born, from an idea in a room in England to it’s birth in Stockholm.
So far Lucien was booked to support The Misfits on their ill-fated Swedish tour of 2004 and as soon as they recorded their first few songs UK labels got in touch offering them places on various compilation albums. Many more gigs are lined up, things are looking good. Lucien is just happy to be out there playing music that they really enjoy and believe in. We hope you can too!
