    À LA UNE
Jo Webb grew up on 1980s Metal Bands.

The other kids at school were painting their boots and listening to The Stone Roses, The Charlatans, The Smiths and REM. Jo used to walk around school with a mullet, a silver sparkle Charvel widdle guitar and a walkman listening to Dio and Iron Maiden.

He had hoped to move to Manchester from North Wales at the age of 18 to study Sound Engineering and Recording. He didn't get on to the course and decided to move to the metropolis known as Barnsley, South Yorkshire to study music.Jo realised that he had made a mistake upon arrival when his tutors tried to drill into him that Jimi Hendrix (who was famous for playing Fender Stratocasters) exclusively played Rickenbacker guitars. This led to drinking, heavy depression and the discovery that “The Number Of The Beast” might not be the greatest album of all time.

Armed with a new CD collection, guitar and recording studio Jo started writing and recording his own songs. He miraculously completed his course, moved to Brighton and started work on recording his then band’s debut album. After numerous line-up changes and a move to London, the band split up. At that point Jo started working in his studio on revamping his old songs and writing new ones.

Jo spent the latter half of 2006 (with co-producer Rich Holmes) completing the demos for his as-yet-untitled debut album. He also gigged at several London venues including The Dublin Castle, The Betsey Trotwood, The Luminaire, The Ginglik and The Bull & Gate, using the gigs to refine his sound with his new backing band, The Dirty Hands.

Jo’s on stage performances have been described as a mix of Jimi Hendrix and Woody Allen, playing guitar solos behind his head whilst delivering lyrics on topics such as break-ups, the moon and failure. His sound has been likened to bands such as XTC, The Police, Nirvana & The Beatles.

Rich and Jo are currently finishing recording and mixing tracks for the album. The first single, “Crime Of The Century”, is tentatively set for a January 2008 independent release, with the album to follow later in the year.
