À LA UNE
Green is a strange colour in a month of autumn when everything is supposed to be grey. A paradox you can find in Green November's music. With themes as love, doubt and desire, the band is searching for the essence of their own songs over and over again. After two years of experience in playing live music, Green November will soon be found in the club and festival circuit to release their debut album Broken Strings and Poetry.
Debut album
The band spent a sweaty summer with producer Collin Leijenaar (drummer Neal Morse) at Novae-studio's in Ede (The Netherlands) to record their debut album. A sweaty summer became a green autumn...In the mean time, Green November's sounds evolved into something which eventually would be called Broken strings and Poetry.
Together with Leijenaar, the band searched for a perfect balance between raw melancholy and ravishing beauty. Seen live, the band evokes comparison to Pink Floyd, Coldplay and Radiohead. This you can hear on the album as well.
The astonishing artwork has been designed by Michiel Kokee (who also did the artwork for John Coffey). With just a random piece of tree from his own garden, Kokee manufactured a solid piece of art. And it works fine as a cd cover as well.
Bio
In 2005 Green November was born out of the friendship between singer Gersom Engels and drummer Timo Vanderhoeven. Once a bassplayer and guitarist were found, the band was complete and the guys started writing songs in their home made studio.
Spring 2005 Green November boldly started their carreer by playing outside the Netherlands. On the Festival de la Jeunesse in France they rocked the stage twice. After this big succes they longed for more and played at venues all over the Netherlands and Belgium. In the end of 2005 the band released their EP Burn My Ships. In the beginning of 2008 they release their debut album Broken Strings and Poetry.
Timo Vanderhoeven forms the solid rhytm section, supported by Christiaan Brozius' swelling bass riffs. The listener is captured between melancholy and pure joy by David Bonsinks melodic guitars and Gersom Engels' sparkling voice.
