Starting in September 2006 as a duo, within a couple of months it was perfectly clear that we needed to add something to the drum and guitar set up to get that proper steamroller kind of sound. I mean we really wanted that hard and mean old school thing here. You know: the one to send shivers up your spine and the faint hearted running for cover? Adding a bass and an extra member to the equation made all the difference and the present set up was born.
Now two Italians and a Dutchman form Black Motor Saints. No fancy footwork, no politics, just some of that hard hitting, down to earth kind of Rock and Roll. Simple and effective and best played and consumed, very live and very loud.
I can not start naming the influences here. I mean that would be a list through 50 years of rock, country, blues, pop, etc. You can’t point the finger to one suspect and you can not empty your ears from what you grew up with and heard and enjoyed.
The most important thing in all: a nice beginning, a nice middle piece and a good end. That’s it, that’s that, and that’s all that matters. Call it what you like, but in the end, what it boils down to: …..does the song do it for you, or not?
