SADNESS KILLS THE SUPERMAN

SKTS first started writing material back in August 2001 just before their trip to Sunset Strip. The objective was to work out killer riffs but to mix melodic vocal lines over the top rather than follow the current trend of roaring indiscriminately, we do admit to the odd grunt here and there. It wasn’t intentional to aim at the American market initially, but since recording the first E.P it has been said many times that it would be in our best interests to go that way. Most of our influences are Classic British bands with the odd US band thrown in. It has to be said that we don’t go out to write a song a certain way with a particular sound, heavy or acoustic etc, they just turn out how they turn out. Craig tends to be the riff machine in as many different tunings as he can create, Jason is the groove master/melody man and Paul has a structural eye on the song arrangements not to mention the awesome, eyebrow flapping, supersonic BASS lines.

Craig’s original influences such as Angus young have some what left his style now and its hard to put a finger on just who he sounds like, some say Zak Wilde, because of the huge slow string bends and that big EMG loaded Les Paul Grunt. Some say he has his own sound, but it is important to at least be recognised as an individual, which when you here the sound he gets you will agree!

Paul’s bass style is one of definition and clarity, far away from the deep smooth classic rock sound he grew up with. He cuts through in his own right, as a musician should. The GMP he bought back from the States is a monster and couples bottom end with punch and cleanliness, which suits his style well. One old chestnut however is the use of the Cry Baby Bass Wah, which features heavily on the E.P as used back in the 70’s by his childhood Bass hero Dennis Dunaway.

Jason actively contributes to the writing, and writes all the lyrics, strange for a drummer eh, or is he. He actually originated as a guitarist but now only writes songs on it. He is renowned for getting carried away and could easily be mistaken for a contender in a ridiculous face competition, and often fends of men in white coats after a show. You can see him pounding his huge Mapex “one off” when the video page is up and running.
LLoyd, the new boy is heavily influenced by the good ole stuff, Gallagher, Lizzy, Zep and is fitting in nicely
