The group that would eventually become Jackknife was formed by Petr Knava and Eoin Davies at school in North London; self taught guitar players jamming with a revolving door of drummers, bassists and singers. As the years went by, Danni Youziel picked up the drum sticks; George Brown the bass guitar; and eventually Marzena Rychlik the mic, and Jackknife came into being.

With roots set deep in the rock 'n' roll glory days of the 1970s, Jackknife’s sound combines heavy blues-influenced guitar riffs and melodies with Marzena's evocative vocal talent.

Jackknife's sound is characterised by high paced, drum-roll-rich percussion; flying solo work from twin lead guitars; and bass runs at every possible juncture. The result is a band which sits within a range of musical creeds - combining 70's and 80's rock, Metal, Pop, and hints of Progressive Rock.

Jackknife’s primary influences are taken from Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, The Cult and Thin Lizzy, as well as a whole host of varied musical genres. With a focus on varied compositions, roller-coster dynamics and intricate musicianship from the 5 instruments involved, the genre and atmosphere alter massively from track to track.
