GOOD-BYE BUFFALO

See you next year. Except, of course, for Total Protonic Reversal, who will be traveling to Boston to compete in the regional final June 26th. The rest of us will have to keep our ears to the ground to find out what bands win the U.S. and Canadian finals. But every now and then we can lift them up and listen to the Emergenza compilation CD (Ghetto Billies and Sanity!). So before we go let's mourn the passing of a great show at the Sphere with this heartfelt eulogy. Baron Zamedi Mitch: will miss=> The intensity of the front man and tasty guitar riffs. good riddance=> Monotonous songwriting. David: will miss=> The progressive music style. They pull it off well. good riddance=> They need to work on their tightness. Hesperus Mitch: will miss=> Tight band with cool songs. good riddance=> The broken acoustic and boring stage show. David: will miss=> The music seemed to breathe a lot more without the acoustic guitar. good riddance=> The songs need more hooks Roadhouse Gypsies Mitch: will miss=> Nice threads and bar room raunchy sound good riddance=> Pretentious stage show and broken guitar strings. David: will miss=> The singer’s presence good riddance=> The band needs to be tighter 4th Definition Mitch: will miss=> Energetic performance and clever songwriting good riddance=> They’re too cute David: will miss=> Great drum parts and well balanced sound good riddance=> The songs need better hooks in the chorus. Sardonic Grin Mitch: will miss=> Killer t-shirt graphics and dual lead singers good riddance=> Dated songwriting David: will miss=> The stage energy good riddance=> Better lyrics 3 Days Old (picture) Mitch: will miss=> Entertaining front man with solid vocals good riddance=> 3-Day Old band name David: will miss=> Tightness and live energy good riddance=> The band needs a better look. City Powered Radio Mitch: will miss=> Unique songwriting good riddance=> Lifeless stage show David: will miss=> The singer’s charisma (the weird faces he does) good riddance=> Tightness, tightness, tightness!!! Total Protonic Reversal Mitch: will miss=> DJ, lead vox, fun performance and slinky grooves good riddance=> Not much David: will miss=> The positive message in their music good riddance=> Sometimes, the set feels monotonous. 716 Mitch: will miss=> Great vocals, keys, sax and rhythm section good riddance=> Weak songs David: will miss=> The music, the tightness and the live presence good riddance=> The songs were waving a little bit Sanity Mitch: will miss=> Magnetic front man and solid backing band good riddance=> Dated sound David: will miss=> Good songwriting good riddance=> Sometimes I wonder if there’s still room for another Creed… Summer Reign Revolution Mitch: will miss=> Grandma’s organ, battling guitars, and in my opinion the best lead singer at the show good riddance=> Purposely destroyed bass David: will miss=> The unpredictable live energy good riddance=> Not enough hooks in the songs Trailer Park Mafia Mitch: will miss=> Confetti, punk rock, mow hawk, and out of control stage presence good riddance=> Confetti, punk rock, mow hawk, and out of control stage presence David: will miss=> Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! good riddance=> Work on your tightness, you are almost there. So there you have it, congrats to Total Protonic Reversal and best of luck in Boston. I remind you that only one band will win on that decisive night and head off to play the Taubertal Open Air Festival in Germany this August. For the rest of us, we’ll see you next year but until then, you always have that Emerge
