PLATFORM TO GERMANY

One more ticket to buy, one more show to win, and one more door to pass through. But there is only enough room on this train for ONE band, who will it be? How will they do it? What tricks are up their sleeves? Let’s speculate about the Toronto finals on June 19th. Zeo must lose the cover band attitude if they have a chance in hell. But there is plenty of playing experience in this band to make it work. Aural Six ditto. Wych must tighten up and give us more glam. Distant Minds has a super clean sound that could use a little more grit. Head Down should give us more stage energy and most certainly show case the cool threads. Running Against Radar has lots of goodies but is a little too squeaky clean. J’s Basement (photo) can throw down hard, especially the vocalist, but they must dig deep to pull this one off. Focal Point has worked out a hard rock version to the song “Beat it”, they should ditch it though on the grounds of been there, done that. David Hein, a fine singer songwriter with a good band, needs to find that “lived in” street feel that his music needs and deserves, when performing. Freefall should let it loose and not pull the rip cord if they expect to grab the judges attention, it’s in there boy’s, find it. Us, Us, Us, and what will Charlie (the singer) do next? We will have to wait and see. I think he should lose the underwear and blond wigs and try to play it straight (just a little), but it probably won’t happen, more power to Us. Storm Without Cease should go insane and break out of the predictable rock mould if they want to drink Becks with us in Germany. That’s a start, there’s more to do I’m sure. The big dogs are coming off the porch. After the show there will be lot’s of best this and best that, but only one band steps off the platform to Germany. Stroke the winners and cheer the losers.
