There is a guy (your brave Nemo) who opens the cd envelope and immediately looks at the inlay. I ALWAYS look at the inlay first. The picture of a tree-lined avenue amazes me. Then I turn it, and the picture on the front lays me flat on the ground. It looks like a Douglas Sirk’s shot, or a David Linch’s vision. Their name is Pale Reason. ‘mumble mumble… pale… pale… fountains? No… damn! My musical memories… Ok, that’s enough of these trips about the outside, let’s listen to the inside. Robin and her pards (with a de-luxe pedigree) flirt with a high sugar content pop. Musically speaking, Robin seems to waver between the great inspiration in ‘I’M COMING DOWN’ (main characters: Robin Renee with voice, acoustic guitar, tables and soul), and ‘THURSDAY MORNING AFTERNOON’, which your harsh Captain found a bit indigestible (too much sugar…?). But Robin is a sincere person. So finally she beaks my heart with ‘I SKATE ALONE’ and ‘MY BRIDE’. Good.
