BEAUTY OF CHICAGO MUSIC SCENE SHINES
Chicago saw it’s most eclectic night of music on Sunday the 22nd of Feb. It was one of those special nights where bands of all genres came together to play and got a chance to hear and enjoy bands of all styles.
The night got going on the right foot with the striking high-energy sounds of Zenfeat. This band brought together Irish folk and rock and roll in the sweetest of ways. Their work and effort paid off by them being the top vote getter of the evening. The night quickly changed pace with the next band, Urn performing in a gothic rock format. Powered by four members, 2 males and 2 females, Urn showed a strong stage presence that was well liked by the fans that night. The fun was just beginning at that point with Comon Diversity following next. Myself, as well as other, were treated to a very solid performance by a 15-year-old girl punk/metal drummer that was no stranger to a drum kit. The diversity kept rolling in and the evening shifted to good old rock and roll with F.O.G. and Blu Magoo. Two well experienced bands that were no strangers to the stage. Both bands used catchy riffs and strong vocalist to release their sounds. Just when you thought that you heard it all that night, Source of Life took the stage and flat out turned on the crowd with the sound of Spanish rock. The band was young in age, but showed no signs of inexperience with their four song set that left the room filled with cheers and applause. This date was a perfect glimpse of the talent of all genres that Chicago holds and take it from me, a Chicago native, this is a great sign of things to come throughout the festival.
