DECHAS (SWE) AND NO RADICAL CHANGE (ITA) IN BERLIN

Two ‘very special’ gigs

We had already reported about it in the WebMagazine : as the swedish Emergenza winner of 03 the Stockholm band DECHAS were on their way to the international final in Rothenburg, playing some shows in the Baltics, when they had a terrible car accident. Including very bad injuries, so they couldn´t play the german concerts. We agreed on having them play in Germany later, when their state of health would allow acting on stage and a trip abroad. It was this time when in the mid of january a hard&heavy „Fun For Free“ at the huge Muffathalle in Munich was held, casted with Emergenza-Bands only. The days before they got to play concerts in maybe the two best small live-clubs in Berlin. One as special guest on a regular Emergenza night at the Knaack Klub, the other, headlined „Best of emergenza“ show, together with NO RADICAL CHANGE from Livorno / Italy (who had qualified 3rd last year in the overall finals) at the Magnet Club. Flown in via Frankfurt, DECHAS didn´t make it in time to have a proper soundcheck, just a few guitar settings before the doors opened. Then to the hotel to relax a bit, and when they came back to Knaack Klub, the picture inside the venue had totally changed:: luckily, the swedes had caught the Berlin Emergenza night with the most viewers this season, more than 400 people. Some of them left before the highlight of the night, but the concert was a success for the band and fun for the crowd. DECHAS made a audience of strangers dance, respectively headbang to their music, and even people that aren´t so much into this type of music recognized that this young band is technically very good blessed with uncommon musical ideas and showing the presence on stage you need to win people over. And not only warming up a stew of NuMetal schemes and attitude. And their new songs keep the level that made them win the Stockholm contest last year. The second gig also had to run without soundcheck, because two shows were set up that night at the Magnet, one early-, one late show (that turned out to be even later, since the other band didn´t feel like playing so early). In the meantime NO RADICAL CHANGE and DECHAS could make friends dining at the asian place next door. Shortly before midnight the backline had to be put up and line-checked in record speed. Still no problem for the bands, as an Emergenza veteran you´re proof to get your stuff in place in five minutes, no matter where, no matter when. NO RADICAL CHANGE started, brutal as ever. A few people (mostly the ones that had stayed from the early show) left because of noise stress, the rest let themselves get blown away by a serious pound of hardcore, danced or just stared somewhat fascinated at the singer, rollins-like Fabrizio. Nothing for chicken, but very good indeed. Also DECHAS had the people on their side right away, and it seemed that the musicians and the audience had even more fun than the day before. Probably due to the heated up atmosphere in the small Magnet and the intention to go wild on a friday night. After the show the travelling artists had a few beers at the following party and a chat with the locals, before heading (the italians already at night, the swedes in the early morning) to play in Munich.
