MONTREAL´S LEAP TO TAKE PART IN THE EMERGENZA INTERNATIONAL ACOUSTIC FINAL
By Simon, Fred, Luc & Pat
Leap is a Montreal-based band that was founded in August 2001 as rock n’roll was gloriously born again. Its music puts the emphasis on singer-songwriter Simon Bousquet’s powerful and melodic vocals which is increased by Frederik Dubois’s basic-organic guitars and Luc Prud’homme and Patrick Dubois’s compelling rhythm section.
Recently crowned Canada’s winner of the Emergenza Takamine-Ovation Acoustic Showcase, the band will fly to Paris next December to participate in the International Acoustic Final, at the Gibus on December 13th. Beyond all expectations, Emergenza has been a real benefit for Leap who at first was only considering this contest as a great opportunity to be seen and heard before big audiences on nice big stages. It was really worth it!
In its first overseas exploration, Leap foresees a unique chance to reach more and more people… and who knows? The acoustic adaptation represents a big challenge for a band that is usually driven by distortion and cymbal crashes! But all things considered, it’s a quite enriching experience which opens new doors in terms of creativity. Despite everything, Leap will make considerable efforts to determinedly preserve its rock n’roll signature… without the heavy artillery!
The band is currently working on an EP (soon available) with Studio Lab\Oratoire‘s owner, producer Alain Karon. He will also take care of the publishing and the EP will be released on his indie label Re:Belle. Leap members also took an initiative in extending their stay in Paris by a few days to seek alliances with the European market. Chances are Alain Karon and manager Myriam Vincent will be joining up to represent the band.
To be continued…
