Kick High

The Best of Emergenza Tour 2002

The first "Kick High" - Best Of Emergenza Tour, leading us through Germany and Luxembourg, is over. Eleven Days of Rock`n´Roll circus, with great moments and small pleasures. For Emergenza it was an experiment and a challenge, as well financially as logistically, to send three unknown bands at absolutely professional conditions on tour. The response of the audience proved that this concept works out alright and especially, that all three bands deserve to be introduced to a bigger public. The line-up: KEROSIN from Berlin, with a fragile indie/rock/disco-something, and the courage to go wild on the spot. Followed by WILLOWTREE from Stockholm, according to Robin from SINCERE "those sexy Swedish guys". Perfectly harmonizing guitars create a spherical poppy sound as well as rocking straight-forwardness, and a singer that catches the audience at once. Headlining SINCERE from Antwerp/Belgium, incredibly powerful and present, catchy without sounding banal with sounds and songs so elaborate, that COLUMBIA chose to publish their debut in spring 2003. Each one of them could win you over, but as a package they worked perfectly, a lucky coincidence. There hardly were any listeners who left the clubs unimpressed. But not only the musical, also the social mix fitted. You could find the musicians discussing sounds, techniques and exchanging equipment. Each band had members of the others acting as guest musicians at one time or another. This created, especially to the end of the tour, sometimes touching, but mostly excessive moments on stage. Someone said, despite of all professionalism, the tour had felt like a holiday camp. Of course, there were also unpleasant situations: the nightliner, in which WILLOWTREE, SINCERE and the crew were sleeping and living, had problems with the power supply (we had to shove, wait for service, sleep one night without heating at 0 degree), each band had occasional internal trouble (gone the next morning), nearly everyone got sick, singers with a sore throat (that’s why SINCERE had to cancel the gig in Nurnberg and WILLOWTREE to shorten their set on three days). Not forget to mention the stress, to stick together in a group of 15 people for eleven days and at the same time, to go on stage every night and give the best in front of a foreign audience. Eventually all this faded and they were getting hot to play again, as soon as the doors opened and the people rushed in. On this tour the bands gained some priceless experience and routine. Everyone involved found out and accepted, that their dream- is a full-time-job as well. When we parted in Hamburg, we all were exhausted and glad to get back home. On the other hand also sentimental, that this adventure was about to end and already missing the new-found friends. Everyone would have jumped on a tour like this again, right away. And that’s exactly what Emergenza is going to make happen, in this or any other constellation.
