We are pleased to host this mail coming from DIRECT LINE, the 2002 Canadian winner band from Montreal. By Eric of Direct Line Like many bands that are trying to get their stuff out on the market, we were seeking contest after contest to promote ourselves. When we stopped on the Emergenza contest, which reunites more than 3000 bands in Europe and Canada, we couldn’t miss our chance. Throughout the contest we’ve heard great bands from many different styles and even had the chance to make long lasting contacts with some of them. Having the chance to perform in front of big crowds in big venues like the Medley, The Club Soda and l’Alizé was already an amazing experience for our band. But to have won the big Canadian final and have the chance to travel to Germany to play in front of 20 000 people was even more amazing. Having the chance to play our songs and get ourselves expose overseas in front of that many people was worth every hours of practicing and every pennies spent on the band. Emergenza helped us make contacts in the industry and get our stuff in the hands of important people in the music market. When we arrived on the site at the Taubertal Festival we were amazed by the quality of bands that were playing there and having the chance to chat with some of them (Italians, Germans, French,…) was more than we expected. Representing our country and being the only North Americans musicians out there was also great feeling. More than just winning a trip to Germany, we also brought back home a brand new set of drums from Mapex, a music man customize guitar, a Crate amp, many trophies and a lot of good memories.
