David Pear went well above and beyond what was asked when we sent over our interview questions, giving fans an idea of just how off the wall they are behind the scenes. You can check out their zany bloopers video on the band’s website. These super energetic rock and roll over achievers plan to take The Garage in London by storm on March 8th. They’ll serve it to the professional jury there in hopes of winning a gig in a major European venue as well as a sure spot in the international finals of Emergenza Festival. Before the show, they show us their serious sides…
CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC IN THREE WORDS?
Unmanageable kangaroo expedition!
WHAT DRIVES YOU TO WRITE AND PERFORM MUSIC?
The desire to discover deeper aspects of the human brain and also curiosity. What is inside our heads and how long you can provoke the drummer without being injured.
WHAT PERFORMERS DID YOU LOOK UP TO WHEN YOU WERE FIRST GETTING INTO MUSIC?
I am a big fan of Richie Kotzen, Nuno Bettencourt, Tom Morello and Michael Hutchence! These guys are (or were) beasts on stage! They own it so much! And just to watch their performance is exciting!
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO EMERGENZA UK?
I was supporting my friends on one of the Emergenza gigs last year and I loved the atmosphere so much that I decided to take part of it myself.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PSYCHED ABOUT PLAYING AT THE GARAGE IN LONDON?
Definitely the crowd! I am looking forward to performing with my new line up in front of the big audience. And we have a surprise for you!
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO TAKE PART IN THE REVOLUTIONARY NEW FORMAT FOR EMERGENZA FESTIVAL AND HAVE THE CHANCE TO SHOWCASE AT A PRESTIGIOUS VENUE IN A MAJOR EUROPEAN CITY?
I am very excited about the showcase and very glad to be part of it. Organisation is perfect, communication excellent. Big thanks to Valeria Gravina to sort the problems so fast!
NERVOUS TO PLAY YOUR 20 MINUTE SET IN FRONT OF A JURY??
I wish it could be longer than that! I think of the jury as a part of the audience and therefore there is nothing to be nervous about. If they don't have guns and don't shoot us in a leg for every wrong note we will be playing, we are safe!
WHERE WOULD YOUR DREAM GIG BE?
Wembley Stadium... classic. Nothing fancy! Few thousand people and helicopter to bring me back to my massive palace on the top of the hill.
